“Apples From Their Trees” is Joanie Calem’s second collection of songs and stories about parenting and caring for children and young adults who’s development doesn’t always follow the charts in the “over-the-counter” parenting manuals. This collection features Joanie’s original songs, which are the fruit of her continued journey as the parent of two unique young adults. Many of the songs were inspired by the laughing requests of other parents who participated in one of Joanie’s signature “concert-conversations,” as in “please write a song about “x” topic!” Joanie has also included two songs by friends: “Coloring Outside the Lines” by Tom Hunter and “Everybody Says” by Malvina Reynolds.

Joanie is a singer/songwriter, performer, storyteller and disability awareness and inclusion advocate. Joanie leads “concert-conversations” for parents and community organizations on inclusion, teacher-training on integrated classroom practices, and community building for all.
