In the summer of 2008 I was sitting with two friends, helping to plan a benefit concert for a third friend who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. My two co-organizers were joking about all their ex-wives. As I looked at my planner, I realized that it was my wedding anniversary, which my husband and I routinely forget. I also realized that I was the only one at the table who was both not someone’s ex-wife and did not have an ex-husband. Old love is great when it works.
